Then, the Minotaurs are proud to induct a new member to our hall of fame, The Labyrinth:

DERMOT CORROON

A few words from Sean McCormick on Dermot’s nomination –

I am nominating Dermot Corroon for consideration to be inducted into the Labyrinth this year for the following reasons

  • Dermot has been a member of the club since the very first training session in Culllion GAA grounds
  • Dermot had an excellent playing career with the club. Including representing Ireland in flag football. I cannot remember specifically, but he has won an MVP for us, and offensive player award I believe
  • Dermot has served on multiple committees under multiple chairs. He has always been a contributing committee member, and always offered useful ideas or criticisms as he felt appropriate
  • Dermot has also taken on many off committee roles, not limited to pitch marking for nearly 10 years, refereeing, and organising and coaching multiple successful years of flag football for the club
  • Dermot stepped back from playing and immediately started coaching, while continuing his flag career with the club. He was a member of last years final team as the defensive coordinator. In addition to this, Dermot also coached for the Irish National Flag team a number of years ago
  • Dermot was one of the founding members of one of the very first Irish American football podcasts, The Rumble, which laid the groundwork for the thriving Irish American Podcast scene as it is today

To summarise, Dermot has played, coached, reffed, marked pitched, served on committees, took on extra responsibilities over the years. He has never been afraid to speak his mind, and I believe in doing so he has made the club better. We would not be in the position we are today without Dermot Corroon.

So with that said, I believe he needs to be the next inductee into the Labyrinth.

Sincerely,
Sean McCormack
