On August 22, the Westmeath Minotaurs defeated the Meath Bulldogs by a score of 42 to 0, behind 397 total yards and a strong shutout performance by the defense. QB Joe Kinahan passed for 3 touchdowns, RB Andrew Paton rushed for 2 more, and the stingy defense forced 3 turnovers, including the first ever interception by rookie DB Peter Dempsey.
This is the Minotaurs first victory in the 2021 friendly series that is scheduled in lieu of an official, organized AFI season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Minotaurs next host the Cill Dara Crusaders on Sept. 19 in the Mullingar Rugby Club. Kickoff is scheduled for 2pm.
