Dominant second half display seals the Minotaurs back to back bowl game spots! On what was a scorching day in Westmeath the Minotaurs faced off against the Vipers for the third time this season in the division one semifinal. A cagey first half seen the Minotaurs take the lead through two rushing scores from Andrew Paton and Jay Bruton. A defensive error lead to the Vipers stealing a score right before the half on a roll out pass. With the score sitting at 14-6 at the half the Minotaurs couldn’t help but feel like they could of been up by more which has been the story of our season so far. With this in the back of the minds of every player the second half seen the Minotaurs play their best half of football of the year. Peter Dempsey finally got his first defensive score after another interception leaving him with 8 on the year. Offensively we leaned on the big men up front and dominated in the ground game with Andrew adding another score along with Rafa Monterio. Jack Lynch racked up over 100 yards through the air with some fantastic run after catch. Defensive stall-worth Niall Folan also ran in a pick 6. Jay Bruton was in fine kicking form only missing one PAT. We are extremely proud of the whole team for a fantastic performance and the support on the day. We set our sights on the bowl game in Belfast in two weeks time. Credit Conor Brennan for the fantastic photos.
