Defeat at home this afternoon in a record combined points tally for Irish American Football.
A couple of pick sixes and a kick return touchdown perhaps added gloss to the score, but in truth we were well beaten today by a fine Trojans squad destined for the playoffs.
We welcomed back Jack Lynch ( who scored two touchdowns) to a starting role, and there were some great individual performances; however the squad was decimated by injury as the game wore on. The defense were minus several starters before kickoff and lost Niall Folan and Jason McBride early on. As such, the Trojans offense found plenty of opportunities to craft scores. Offensively, we moved the ball fairly well. Rafa Monteiro (suspended for the first half) found room on the ground and Shaun Dalton, Cathal Dunne and the aforementioned Jack Lynch had plenty of big plays through the air. The OL suffered injury too, but both Jo Coyne and Niall Corcoran jumped in and helped stabilise the situation.
Whilst there are positives to take, and the injuries didnt help, we are under no illusion who were the better side today. The Trojans played extremely well, in particular their QB and offensive line.
Congratulations to the Trojans on a well played and well coached game of football. Best of luck with the rest of the season.
We take on the Belfast Knights next Sunday at home.
