We got back to winning ways in a hard-hitting game of football played in wonderful conditions in Mullingar.
From the start the men from Westmeath were on it. The offense were in fine form, scoring three touchdowns in the first half. The offensive line of Jo Coyne, Conor & Liam Dougherty, Kevin Tempany and Liam Cushen lead the way, creating holes for running back Rafa Monteiro and giving Joe Kinahan time to find his receivers. Jack Lynch had a couple of great touchdown grabs whilst Joe ran one in himself from short range. Cathal Dunne also had a great game, especially considering he played wide receiver, cornerback and punter.
The defense were also in great form. The first half was a dominating display from a unit smarting from giving up a large amount of points just last week. Jordan Lacey managed to grab himself an interception as the defense swarmed the ball. Niall Corcoran was immense as well as brother Adam, routinely knifing through to cause havoc in the Knights backfield.
The play of the day came from Shaun Dalton who grabbed an interception and returned it to the house in the 3rd quarter.
We have a week off before welcoming the Cork Admirals to Mullingar on June 11th.
